In December 2023, the Honorary Consul had a working visit to the Republic of Sri Lanka. With the assistance of Her Excellency Ms. Professor Janitha A. Liyanage, within the framework of the visit the working meetings with Thraka Balasuriya, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, Ramesh Pathirana, Minister of Plantation and Industries of Sri Lanka, and Bandula Gunawardane, Minister of Transport and Highways of Sri Lanka, were held in Colombo, that contributed to the establishment of the links between the North-West region of the Russian Federation and Sri Lanka in the fields of public services and amenities, security, industry, trade, economy and investment.
The meetings and negotiations resulted in bringing new opportunities for cooperation between Russia and Sri Lanka.
