On February 4, 2024, at the invitation of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation and the Russian Association for International Cooperation, the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka participated in the solemn celebration of the 76th Anniversary of Sri Lanka's Independence in Moscow.
As part of the event, the Independence Day addresses of the President of Sri Lanka H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Hon. M.U.M. Ali Sabrywere read out. Also a greeting video message, specially recorded on the occasion by the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, was demonstrated on the screen. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrei Rudenko read out the congratulatory speech of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation - Sergei Lavrov.
